Balance in 2023

Happy New Year’s Eve!!! Can you believe that 2022 is almost over? If you are at all like me, you are looking forward to a new year. Don’t get me wrong, there was a lot about 2022 that was amazing, but it was a hard year too.

People often ask me about my new year’s resolutions. I don’t do “resolutions” per say, but I do set intentions at the beginning of each year. My intentions this year are all about balance. I want to get better at balancing my health, work, passions and my amazing family. I felt stretched so thin in 2022 and I don’t want to feel that way again in the coming year. But how?

I have a few strategies that work for my Type A personality:

  1. Lists! I love a list and I love to cross things off that list! I love the ToDo app for my phone. With this app I can add tasks as I think about them. I can also assign them to specific days, or not. Helps me keep on track!

  2. Meal Planning! I am the first to admit that I am not actually very consistent at this one. I plan to do better this year. Every Sunday I make a plan for the week, go grocery shopping and prep the foods that need to be prepped. Sometimes I order pre prepared meals from my friend at Erin’s Table here in Eugene if I know my week is going to be especially crazy.

  3. Rest Days! I often feel bad if I take a day off. No exercise, no errands ran, no laundry folded…. you know those days. But I realize that I need those days in my life. I find that a day with no expectations of myself is the best reset for my mind and body.

Bottom line, you need to set realistic goals for yourself and your 2023 and then make a plan! You don’t have to be perfect… just keep trying!

Have a wonderful last day of 2022 and cheers to you all and to a balanced 2023!
